About Dr. Michelle Tang

Dr. Tang is a medical physician with special interest in old age medicine (geriatric medicine). She graduated from Cardiff University, UK, and received her training in both the UK and Taiwan. During her training in Mackay Memorial Hospital, Taipei, she was awarded the “best intern of the year” for her outstanding clinical performance.


Dr. Tang discovered her passion in medical education in 2007 when she joined Doctors Academy. She was the undergraduate training program director from 2008-2010 and organized several Doctors Academy events such as the Cardiff MRCS OSCE Course and Revision course for medical finals. These courses were very successful and the MRCS OSCE course later received accreditation by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2010.


She is familiar with the use of multimedia tools for education and published resources for undergraduates. Some of her publications included Focused Clinical Examination Essentials for Medical Students, Practical Procedures and Communication Skills for Medical Student OSCEs, Focused Clinical Skills for Medical Student Exams (DVD) and Clinical Examination for Medical Student Exams (DVD). She also contributed to the development of webinar for Swansea ABM NHS Trust and Nottingham University NHS Trust.


Dr. Tang volunteers for an international, award-winning organization called Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps (TRMPC) in her spare time. She works both as a front-line physician and as an international affairs coordinator, facilitating cooperation between the organization and local authorities. Her medical experience of working in many countries has attracted interviews from TV and radios shows. She is also a regular guest speaker for University seminars and magazines in Taiwan.


She is very keen on geriatric medicine and pursing a career in this speciality. In 2014, she established a collaboration between Doctors Academy and Nottingham University NHS Trust, and organized one of the first geriatric teachings for other specialties in the United Kingdom entitled, 'Surgery in the Elderly: Essential Concepts and Challenges'. She also participates in the “Spiritual Campaign” project in NHS Trust in to improve the spiritual care for inpatients.


As a healthcare entrepreneur, Dr. Tang is always looking for innovative and creative solutions to enhance quality of life for older people. Based on her previous performance, she has received NHS bursary to study Executive MBA in Nottingham Business School that she is currently pursuing.
