Brief description:
This unique two-day ‘hand-on’ course will provide the participant to perform
a variety of commonly used flaps in reconstruction of upper limb injuries on
unembalmed freeze-preserved cadavers under direct supervision of Consultant
Upper Limb and Hand Surgeons.
With a high tutor-to-participant ratio, this practical course will be delivered in
small groups using a series of tutor demonstrations where participants mark and
raise a number of flaps on cadavers, simulating clinical practice.
The benefits and disadvantages of individual flaps, and their role of specific
trauma or type of injury will also be discussed. A workshop at the end of
the course will give the participants an opportunity to consolidate on their
specialised area of interest.
Some of the flaps taught will include:
- Lateral arm flap
- Posteior interosseous artery flap
- Radial forearm flap
- Becker flap
- Various digital flaps (Atasoy, Kutler, transdigital, Hueston, Moberg etc)
