Professor Simon Kay Professor Simon Kay is a consultant plastic surgeon on the General Medical Council specialist register and specialises in all aspects of plastic surgery particularly cosmetic surgery, breast surgery, hand surgery and major nerve surgery. Professor Kay has a large childrens’ plastic surgery practice and over the last 25 years, has developed a very extensive cosmetic surgery practice. In 2012, Professor Kay became the first surgeon in the UK to perform a human hand transplantation on Mr. Mark Cahill from Halifax. The graft is still functioning well to this day. Professor Kay is the editor of an award winning text book and is the current editor of the Oxford Textbook of Plastic Surgery. He has run educational courses in cosmetic surgery and also teaches cosmetic surgery. Professor Kay publishes regularly in scientific peer review journals and contributes to a wide range of textbooks as an invited author.

Miss Helen Fernandes Helen Fernandes was appointed as Consultant Neurosurgeon at the internationally renowned Addenbrooke’sHospital in Cambridge in 2002, the first female surgeon to be appointed there. She specialises in the treatment of both adult and paediatric patients with brain and spinal problems. She trained on the Northern Region Neurosurgical Training Programme having graduated from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. She supplemented her training with secondments to Great Ormond Street Hospital, London and the Montefiore Hospital, New York. During her training she also spent two years in research having been awarded the Louis Alexander Research Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons and later a Hunterian Professorship from the same organisation. She gained her doctorate of medicine in 2000 and was then appointed as a Medical Research Council senior lecturer and honorary Consultant Neurosurgeon prior to her move to Cambridge. Miss Fernandes was also recognised as one of the Top 50 UK Surgeons by the Times Newspaper in 2011 and the same newspaper nominated her as one of the Top 100 Children's Doctors in 2012.

Professor HarminderDua Professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences at the university of Nottingham Prior, he was associate professor at the Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, USA when he was invited to chair in Nottingham in April 1994. He earlier did his Graduation in Medicine from Government Medical College and Hospital,Nagpur. Dua is also the co-editor in chief of the British Journal of Ophthalmology. He was president of EuCornea, the European society of Cornea and Ocular surface disease specialists. He is also president of the EVERf (European Association for Vision and Eye Research Foundation) and past president of the association itself. He was elected to the chair of Academia OphthalmologicaInternationalis and invited to join as member of the American Ophthalmological Society by thesis. In March 2011 he was elected president of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, UK commencing his duties on 25 May 2011. He has over 200 research publications, 20 published letters, and 14 book chapters to his credit.
