This one-day event aims to educate and inform medical students and foundation year doctorsof the career pathways available soon after graduation, as well as foster an enthusiasm for academic work.
The day will be divided into two components. The initial part of the conference will comprise of talks delivered by consultants in the format of 'A Week in the Life of a …'. To enhance the learning opportunities and attainment of knowledge on the day, this session will be divided into three major streams: Medicine, Surgery and Other Specialities. During the registration process, delegates will beable to choose the stream they wish to be placed in. It will, however, be possible to gain a taster of different specialities if delegates are interested.
The latter part of the day will focus on academia and research. It will consist of talks centred on presentation and publication skills, academic career pathways, and ways to enhance a CV inorder to secure posts in competitive specialities.
Interspersed throughout the day will be the 3rd National Anatomy Challenge for British Universities, a prestigious event with prizes and trophies awarded to the highest performing delegates. The initial screening round is paper and PowerPoint based while the subsequent rounds will see delegates compete in interactive knockout rounds. Delegates attending this conference are eligible for free registration in the Anatomy Challenge.
This conference is suitable for all medical students, as well as foundation year 1 and foundation year 2 doctors.
Places are limited and will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
