Course description:

For delegates to develop an understanding of specific symptom control in palliaitve care and the different types of oncological emergencies that can occur in a patient with cancer. The day will consist of a combination of presentations, group work and practical activity.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion the delegate should:
  • Understand pain assessment and management.
  • Recognise the causes of nausea and vomiting in advanced cancer.
  • Discuss constipation in advanced cancer.
  • Identify early signs and symptoms and associated management of a patient who presents with: Neutropenic sepsis, Spinal cord compression, hypercalcaemia.

Registered nurses, allied healthcare professionals, 3rd year student nurses.
