Mr Richard Creel
Rural Surgery

Mr. Creel graduated in 1972 from the University of Wales.
After house jobs, he went to Edinburgh as a research fellow in surgery. He then worked as chief resident in general surgery at the Health Sciences Centre of the University of Manitoba from 1977 to 1978. In 1978, Dr. Creel became a fellow in cardio-vascular and thoracic surgery, and in 1981, a consultant in surgery at Dalhousie University in New Brunswick, Canada, as well as an honorary lecturer at McGill University in Canada. From 1984 to 2001, Dr. Creel worked as a consultant in general, vascular and thoracic surgery at Vernon Regional Hospital in British Columbia, Canada.
After this posting, he traveled to Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, Abu Dhabi, U.A.E, to take the position of consultant in vascular and thoracic surgery. Until 2012, Dr. Creel was a consultant surgeon for N.H.S. Highlands in Fort William, when he took his current post as consultant surgeon at Lorn and Isles hospital, Oban, Argyll, and Bute.
Apart from surgery, Dr. Creel plays viola in various groups around the Highlands and Central Belt, sails a Contessa 33 and is a it of an amateur mechanic (please see photo, alongside recently restored Land Rover Defender. The land lover has a brand new chasis and he did it all himself)!

Mr Howard Stevenson
Plastic Surgeon

Dr. Stevenson graduated with an M.B.B.Ch., B.A.O. qualification from Queen’s University Belfast in 1973. From 1973-1983, he held a variety of positions in obstetrics and gynecology, casualty, general surgery, plastic surgery, cardiac surgery, and pediatric surgery. This included positions in Belfast, Craigavon, Dundonald, and as far reaching as Newfoundland and Toronto, Canada.
In 1983, Dr. Stevenson was appointed his present position as consultant in plastic and reconstructive surgery for Tayside Health Board in Dundee, Scotland. The clinical responsibilities of this appointment covered a broad spectrum. Dr. Stevenson’s subspecialties and areas of interest included rheumatoid hand surgery, post-mastectomy breast reconstruction, and hypospadias reconstruction and correction.
Dr. Stevenson retired from full-time practice in April 2013. Alongside and following his clinical practice, Dr. Stevenson has released many medical publications, held administrative and committee roles, and contributed to educational activities at both the undergraduate and graduate level of medical education. Dr. Howard is presently an honorary senior lecturer at both the University of Dundee and the University of St. Andrews.
A further interest of Dr. Howard’s is the treatment of burns in developing countries. For 20 years he has used his extensive background of knowledge and experience in the field of surgery to design and establish a Burns Unit in Blantyre, Malawi. The project is collaboration with local surgeons, including visits, lectures, and operations by visiting surgeons.
