about

This is the 6th conference ran by the British Undergraduate Cardiovascular Association hoping to bring students from across the country to Newcastle.Newcastle is home to the Freeman hospital, which has an international reputation for pioneering expertise in transplant surgery. It is also a key centre for cardiovascular research and is the founding site of the nationwide BHF-funded SENIOR RITA trial. As such, we are able to get some of the best speakers in the field of cardiology and cardiac surgery to speak. Newcastle University will be an excellent regional meeting point in the North for other universities such as Sheffield, Leeds, Edinburgh. The conference is aimed at medical students and consists of a 2-day programme; we expect an attendance of around 100 students. The first day includes a series of lecturers by renowned experts in the field and the second day will consist of practical workshops such as CABG simulation and patch angioplasty.
