Following the success of last year's event, Keele Surgical Society is pleased to announce the Keele National Orthoplastics Workshop 2020. This event will offer delegates the opportunity to gain hands-on consultant-led teaching in the fields of Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery.

These specialities are often overlooked and undertaught in the medical school curriculum despite them being large fields of medicine that impact patients from all age ranges. Therefore, Keele Surgical Society aims to provide a useful learning resource to help impassion students about Orthopaedic and Plastic Surgery.

The event will cover four workshops teaching basic skills in the field of Orthoplastics. The two Orthopaedic workshops will focus on the techniques of internal fixation (plate and screws) and external fixation (uniplanar frame) on synthetic bone. The two Plastic workshops will cover tendon repair (Kessler technique) and advancement flap design on animal tissue. The event will also feature two lectures – one focusing on major trauma management while the other explores Orthoplastics in low-and-middle-income countries.

Money raised from the event will be donated to the British Foundation of International Reconstructive Surgery and Training (BFIRST). BFIRST is a UK registered charity which trains surgeons working in the poorest countries in the world to enable them to undertake reconstructive plastic surgery. Abstract Submission

Abstract submissions on the theme of Orthoplastics are welcome. The top three abstracts will be invited to present their poster at the event. To submit an abstract, please follow the link: https://forms.gle/3x54uU7jmdcSuAfd6.

Abstract submissions must be received no later than 2359 hours on Wednesday 15^th January. Any late submissions will not be considered. Poster dimensions will be confirmed via email.

Submissions (excluding case reports) should be no longer than 250 words and should adhere to the following format:
