The LEADERS Annual Conference – Research: On the Frontline will be taking place on the 21st of March 2020 in the Worsley Building of Leeds Medical School. With this year’s theme of Research: On the Frontline, the conference will explore topics including cancer, AI, surgical advancements, and technology in medicine.

The conference is aimed at those looking to submit their research to a nationally accredited conference and those interested in publishing their research in a national journal. The conference aims to offer delegates the opportunity to improve their CV as a conference delegate, network with academics, and determine whether research is the correct pathway for them.

This conference offers delegates the opportunity to enhance their academic development and gain further knowledge and understanding of the world of research within medicine.

Delegates are encouraged to submit abstracts for the chance to be published in a National Medical Journal. The top 10 selected abstracts will be published in JSMAR.

Aims and Objectives

  • To ensure that academic medicine is accessible to all students, regardless of their stage of training.
  • To encourage and support students to undertake research as part of their time at university as well as in their respective future careers.
  • To inspire the next generation of researchers.
  • To make involvement in research easy.
  • To celebrate excellence in student research.

  • Conference Fee : £3.00 (Members - until 2359 hours on 22nd February 2020);
    £5.00 (Non-Members - until 2359 hours on 22nd February 2020);
    £5.00 (Members - after 0000 hours on 23rd February 2020);
    £7.00 (Non-Members - after 0000 hours on 23rd February 2020).

Abstract Submission


Abstract submissions for research, audits, case reports and systematic reviews in all areas of medicine are welcome. Abstracts should be submitted to https://docs.google.com/forms/d/194c3TFyjrigxzYx4Ohd4twR0w-AJOxC3svxsdgOtg_I and must be received no later than Saturday 22nd February 2020.

  • The abstract must be no longer than 1500 characters with up to two tables or figures.
  • The same person may submit and serve as a presenting author on a maximum of two abstracts.
  • If an abstract has been published elsewhere, it will not be considered for publication in JSMAR. However, it can still be submitted for presentation.

Submission of an abstract acknowledges your acceptance for the abstract to be published in JSMAR (if selected). Please be aware that you are required to register to attend the conference to submit an abstract.
