Despite significant scientific developments and technological advances, the treatment of rectal cancers continues to remain a significant challenge for clinicians and surgeons. Depending on the grade and stage, rectal cancers can lead to a considerabledegree of morbidity and mortality. A sound understanding of the pathologies and principles is required when managing complex rectal cancers. Transanal Total Mesorectal Excision (TaTME), the new minimally invasive robotic alternative to conventional surgery for patients with lower rectal cancers, allows a shorter recovery time, minimal scarring, and reduced pain.
