2nd May 2020 (Saturday)
Wolfson Medical School Building, University of Glasgow, G12 8QQ
Dear Colleague,
At this time of a pandemic, our primary obligation and responsibility is towards the wellbeing of all individuals in our society, particularly our patients. The health and wellbeing of all healthcare professionals, from medical students to junior doctors to consultants, should not be compromised or taken for granted.
In line the Prime Minister's statement issued on Monday 16th March 2020, which has called for a reduction in non-essential travel and an increase in social distancing amongst individuals across the country, this event will not go ahead on 2nd May 2020 and has been deferred to a future date.
On behalf of the organisers, we sincerely apologise for the disappointment and inconvenience that this might cause. As I am sure you can appreciate, the situation is completely unprecedented and unforeseen. We are reviewing the situation on a daily basis, in line with the Colleges, the hospitals, the WHO, and guidelines issued by the UK Government. Once the situation has settled, we will be able to provide the date of the rescheduled event.
The above measure has been put in place in order to prioritise the health and wellbeing of all concerned.
Thank you for your kind understanding in this regard.
Our thoughts are with our delegates and faculty as they strive to protect the nation at this challenging time.
We wish you good health in this difficult and challenging period.
