Doctors Academy (UK) and Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), in conjunction with the Association of Surgeons of India, are pleased to offer this intensive three-day revision course that is designed to help candidates prepare for the FRCS (International) Examination in General Surgery. The course, led by the eminent surgeon and academician Mr Pradip K Datta and delivered by experienced consultants, will use a combination of direct vivas, interactive discussions, and patients with signs and symptoms to provide the candidate with a focused revision of pertinent topics.

Learning Style:
  • Small group and individual teaching/vivas.
  • Candidates will have the opportunity to participate in one on one vivas as in the exam.
  • Slides of images and pathology specimens will be projected and participants will be asked common examination questions.
  • Emphasis will be laid on all participants to answer questions. Each participant will be given time to hone their discussion skills with an examiner and to present the findings confidently.
  • All the viva stations will be covered in detail: Emergency surgery (including trauma) and Critical care, General Surgery, declared specialty – upper and lower GI tract, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, endocrine, breast, vascular, transplantation, general surgery of childhood and academic viva.
Learning Outcomes:
  • On completion of this course, the candidate should be confident in their preparation for the oral and clinical parts of Section 2 of the examination in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, between 21st and 23rd November 2013.
  • The candidate should be able to present and discuss clinical cases as in an examination situation.
  • Learn and exhibit correct examination techniques.
Eligibility Criteria:
  • Candidates should have passed section 1 of the FRCS (International) (Gen Surg) examination.
  • Should have the required clinical/surgical experience.
  • Although primarily intended for candidates appearing for the FRCS (Int) (Gen Surg) Section 2 examination, this course will also be useful for those appearing for MRCS, MS (Gen Surg) and DNB (Gen Surg) examinations.

(Course fee includes the course manual: FRCS (General surgery) – the road to success. The manual is part of the book being published by the end of this year specifically meant for those doing the FRCS (Exit) examination in General Surgery. Candidates will also receive online access to revise and prepare from 1,000 slides before attending the course)
