Description:

Taught by surgeons, this highly interactive event will feature focus-group workshops and individual demonstrations complemented by essential theoretical information on surgical anatomy. Delegates will be taught the anatomy encountered in common procedures, the placement of incisions and essential principles of surgery.

This session will also include the anatomical basis in the assessment and management of patients involved in trauma and emergencies. Some examples of the topics intended to be covered include: Stab/gunshot wounds to the thorax and abdomen, chest drain insertion, oesophageal and bowel perforation, liver, kidney and spleen lacerations, abdominal aortic aneurysms and acute abdomen.

The workshops will use imaginative artwork in identifying important surface anatomy landmarks and the underlying structures on live human models.
