Following the success of last year, the HYMS Surgical Societies are delighted to announce the 4th HYMS National Undergraduate Surgical Conference. There will be a variety of keynote speakers from across the country including Ms Elizabeth O’Riordan, an Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon with the unique experience of dealing with breast cancer both as a surgeon and a patient, and Mr Declan Costello,a Consultant ENT Surgeon specialising in voice disorders. Other speakers include Professors Schueler and Zaman from Newcastle, who will be talking about their inspiring world-first transcatheter ventricular enhancement procedure, along with Mr Adam Williams, a Senior Clinical Fellow in Neurosurgery and the current President of the Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT).

Delegates will have the opportunity to participate in three different workshops throughout the day. The workshops will consist of a variety of academic talks, practical sessions and professional development workshops. Small groups will ensure that each delegate will benefit from individual contact with consultants. There will also be an opportunity for delegates to submit and present a poster at the conference.

The conference is intended for all medical students and will aim to provide knowledge and basic surgical skills to all who are interested in pursuing a surgical career. With interactive workshops and informative lectures, there will be ample opportunity for delegates to build on the foundations already acquired throughout undergraduate teaching.

Kindly note that the theme and contents of the workshops are subject to change.

Eligibility:

This event is open both to medical students and those interested in pursuing a career in medicine.
